Well, folks, the show begins tomorrow in the House of Representatives as the new Congress convenes for the first time. But before any of them can be sworn in, they have to take care of a very important matter of business, which is to elect a new speaker of the house because until they have that speaker in place, none of them can be sworn in. And if what Republicans in the House are telling us right now is true, we're not gonna have a speaker tomorrow. And we may not have one Saturday or Sunday, maybe not even Monday, which then of course, would force Republicans to have to delay the certification of the 2024 presidential election results, which would be the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. But according to Republican representative Chip Roy of Texas, Mike Johnson does not have the votes to be the speaker of the house right now.

Here is what he said on Fox Business this week. Right now, I don't believe that he has the votes on Friday, and I think we need to have the conference get together so that we can get United. Then he started talking about Republican representative Victoria Spartz, who has said that she's not fully on board with Mike Johnson, along with, of course, Republican representative Thomas Massey. But Chip Roy continued. Victoria is a good friend and Thomas is a good friend, and they raise reasonable concerns. I remain undecided, as do a number of my colleagues because we saw so many of the failures last year that we are concerned about that might limit or inhibit our ability to advance the President's agenda. But what we need to do is unite around a plan to deliver for the president. Keep that phrase in mind. By the way, right now, I do not believe the conference has that we need a plan to deliver for the president.

They're elected to serve constituents, average American citizens, the people who voted for them, that is who they serve according to the Constitution. That is who they serve. They don't serve whatever is sitting in the White House in any given moment. They serve the people. So for Chip Roy to say, what we need to do is unite, in order to serve President Trump, that tells you everything you need to know about what these next, at least two years of Republicans controlling the house is gonna be. They don't give a about you. They don't give a about me. They don't give a about their own constituents. The only thing that matters is we gotta keep giant toddler Trump happy. But according to reports, Republicans may have a fail safe if they can't get a speaker, but still want Donald Trump to become president. According to CNN, some Republicans are privately discussing ways to push the procedural limits so that Congress can certify Trump's win without a leader. One person described a quote, emergency break glass option that would involve allowing the house to vote to go into a special session.
