4:02Now PlayingThe Department of Justice under Pam Bondi, along with encouragement from Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, has decided that the most important thing in America right now is none other than Hillary Clinton’s email scandal from nearly a decade ago. That investigation, which concluded in the Fall of 2016 and found no criminal wrongdoing, has been one the minds of Republicans for the last few days as they’ve scrambled to come up with a distraction from the Epstein scandal that is enveloping Trump’s entire world. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

The Trump administration needs a distraction from Epstein. I mean, that much is crystal clear. Obviously Tulsi Gabbard tried by said, we're, we're gonna get Obama for treason. Forgetting of course that the US Supreme Court has given people like Trump and Obama, of course, presidential immunity from anything. So they can't prosecute Obama even if he had committed crimes, which he didn't in this instance. So that distraction didn't work. But don't worry, because as we know, republicans always have an ace up their sleeve. Unfortunately that ace up their sleeve has become so predictable that without even saying it, you can already guess what I'm about to tell you. Republicans are now trying to make into an issue again, and that is Hillary Clinton's emails.
That is right folks. The scandal that ended nine years ago after an FBI investigation concluded she was careless but didn't do anything criminal. Nine years later, Pam Bondy, attorney General of the United States says, you know what, I'm gonna release all the Hillary Clinton email files from 2009 and 2013. And again, the investigation concluded in 2016, Hillary Clinton famously sat for 11 hours in a congressional testimony where they still couldn't pin anything on her. I am not a Hillary Clinton fan by any stretch folks, but come on. She went through absolute hell and came out smiling on the other side. Republicans are the ones who looked like fools the whole, but her emails thing became a meme. And now here we are nine years after the investigation closed, and Pam Bondy so desperate for a distraction from Epstein says, we might reopen it, but don't worry, Pam Bondy's not acting alone, folks, because the release of these Hillary Clinton investigation, uh, files actually came at the request of Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, that little goblin who you know, probably needs to be thinking of a retirement plan if he wants to enjoy any of his golden years.
'cause the guy is one of the oldest people in Congress. Um, he had requested for no particular reason other than distraction, Pam Bondy give the Senate those Hillary Clinton email investigation files to what end for what purpose? We don't know because we don't need them, because nobody anymore, if they ever did, gives a about Hil Hillary Clinton's emails. But that is how desperate they are folks. This thing that they tried to turn into a big campaign thing in 2016. They talked about all through Trump's first term. He couldn't find anything to actually her for though. But her emails
Is back for round 100, I guess it is the year 2025. It is the summer of 2025. We're closer to Christmas than we are from the start of this year, and we are once again having to talk about Hillary Clinton's emails because that's all Republicans have. If you needed any further proof that this is a party that is not only deeply stupid, but deeply out of ideas and involved in an exceptionally deep coverup of the Epstein files, I couldn't give you more proof than them resurrecting Hillary Clinton's emails. But here we are.
