Twenty-one-month-old Kayden Swann was sitting in the back seat of one a car when he was caught in the middle of gun crossfire. Swann was rushed to Lurie Children's Hospital, where doctors placed him in a medical coma. The number of shootings and murders in Chicago spiked dramatically in 2020. The year ended with 769 homicides and people are calling for new strategies to combat the violence. BNC's Eric Cox spoke to community activists combatting the rising number of shootings. Tio Hardman, the Executive Director of Violence Interrupters, said Chicago needs to try something different. The anti-violence group facilitates peace talks between waring gang members.
