9:06Now PlayingClosing arguments are set to begin Monday in the trial of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd. "Start Your Day" host Sharon Reed and Mike Hill discussed the importance of the verdict in the trial.
"This is going to have a huge impact on our way of life," Hill said, citing the importance of the ruling. Reed agreed, saying "it better" because it sets a precedent for what it means for the value of Black lives.
She said Floyd's death was "horrific" and that officers shouldn't be praised for finally standing up against Chauvin. "If there are so many 'good cops' who outnumber the bad, we would not be in the situation we are," Reed said.
