Slade says that evangelical Christians typically gravitate toward conservative politics, but some members of the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest of the evangelical congregations.
"The Southern Baptist Convention their history is rooted in racism," Slade says. Adding that, they broke away from the national body following the Civil War over slavery.
