2:59Now PlayingCommunity members want to know why officers did not at least try to deescalate the situation before shooting MaKhia Bryant. The circumstances of her death are now the focus of a state investigation. Four shots were fired and Interim Police Chief Michael Woods said police officers are trained to shoot until an offender is no longer a threat. At a vigil, community members gathered to honor Bryant and they held a moment of silence for 16 minutes. Officer Nicholas Reardon is on administrative leave as the shooting is investigated.
NOTE: Out of respect for Ma'Khia Bryant's life, BNC will not show the moment she was shot.
