1:34Now PlayingThe sports community is mourning the loss of 19-year-old Terrence Clarke, who died Thursday after being involved in a car crash in Los Angeles.
According to the University of Kentucky Athletics Department, Clarke recently finished his freshman year at the school and he was preparing for the 2021 NBA Draft after signing with Klutch Sports.
According to WKYT, the Los Angeles Police Department said he was traveling at a high rate of speed before running a red light and crashing. They also allege he was not wearing his seatbelt properly.
University of Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari said Clarke was loved. “I am absolutely gutted and sick tonight. A young person who we all love has just lost his life too soon, one with all of his dreams and hopes ahead of him. Terrence Clarke was a beautiful kid, someone who owned the room with his personality, smile and joy. People gravitated to him, and to hear we have lost him is just hard for all of us to comprehend right now. We are all in shock.”
