9:24Now PlayingOn "Making the Case w/Yodit," host Yodit Tewolde and National Bar Association President C.K. Hoffler discuss today's important legal stories. In the Derek Chauvin case, prosecutors filed their response to the defense's motion for a new trial. Chauvin’s lawyer Eric Nelson cited several examples of alleged juror misconduct, such as allegations that juror Brandon Mitchell did not correctly answer questions about participation in Black Lives Matter protests. Chauvin is due to be sentenced on June 25. In Georgia, five Savannah police officers have been fired after a man being questioned in an assault case took his own life, while he was left alone in an interview room in April. Two officers were fired for turning off their body cameras, and three were fired over a text message mocking the man's death.
