5:43Now PlayingVoters in Florida will vote in a gubernatorial election in 2022. Democratic Congressman Charlie Crist has thrown his hat into the ring to challenge Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. Michele Rayner, the first openly LGBTQ+ woman of color to serve in the state Legislature, has her sights set on Crist's old job as Florida's representative from the 13th District. The district represents most of Pinellas County, which is closely split between Democrats and Republicans. That county could become more Republican next year through redistricting. Rayner is set to announce her intention next week and she joins "Prime with Charles Blow" to discuss her decision.
