7:07Now PlayingOn today's "In the Black," BNC spoke to Dr. Fran Fleming on a study from UConn's Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, which found that Black kids are more likely to see advertisements for fast food.
In 2019, Black children saw 75% more ads for fast food than white kids, up from 60% in 2012.
"The disparity between exposure has increased," Dr. Fleming says. "If you watch more TV, you're more likely to see ads, but targeting is part of it there too."
Dr. Fleming adds that advertisements targeting Black people typically focus on unhealthier products.
