Coming up, there is another case of police brutality in the state of Texas that involved a Black teenage girl and her mother. A Kaufman County deputy pinned 18-year-old Nekia Trigg on the ground while she was saying she couldn’t breathe.
The Kaufman County Sherriff’s department said that the deputy was restraining Nekia to save her from herself, in response to 911 calls about a person running into traffic. Nekia’s mother, Antanique Ray, went to the deputy and said that her daughter wasn’t trying to kill herself.
Ray and Dominique Alexander, activist and founder of the Next Generation Action Network, join Reed on “Making the Case” to talk about Nekia and the issue of police brutality.
All this and more on “Making the Case.”
