5:08Now PlayingJudges are calling for stronger punishments for people charged with crimes stemming from the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and other people involved.
Democratic strategist Ameshia Cross, D.C. correspondent Bofta Yimam and Conservative commentator John Burnett join “DC Today” to discuss the punishments doled out so far.
“These individuals deserve long sentences; these individuals deserve to be made an example of,” Cross says. “What we’re seeing is basically a slap on the wrist. There are people who are caught with dime bags of marijuana that end up in prison longer than we’re seeing these individuals. It is depressing, it is frustrating, it shows that Jan. 6 to me was actually a joke.”
All this and more on “DC Today.”
