9:59Now PlayingA Black father and son and their Black real estate agent have filed a lawsuit against the city of Wyoming, Michigan, the police chief and several officers after the trio was arrested during a home showing.
The wrongful arrests came after a neighbor called police claiming one of the men looked like the same person police arrested a week earlier for trespassing at the home. The men say their civil rights were violated and are seeking damages, accusing the officers of unlawful detainment, use of excessive force and intentionally inflicting emotional distress. Police are calling it a “an unfortunate misunderstanding.” So far, six officers have been named in the lawsuit. BNC legal contributor Paul Henderson joins Yodit Tewolde on “Make the Case” to discuss the case, as well as others.
