8:22Now PlayingUnlike traditional colleges which have experienced a decrease in enrollment, HBCUs have seen a surge in student population since 2016. Applications and matriculation have gone up for nearly 40 HBCUs.
Nashville-based Fisk University isn’t slowing down either. The institution saw its enrollment grow from five to 6%. School officials expect a strong academic year with more students. Fisk scored big in this year’s ranking of best historically Black colleges and universities. And, for the second year in a row, it’s come in among the top ten. Fisk President Dr. Vann Newkirk joins “AMplified” to discuss the growth and recruitment efforts.
