2:05Now PlayingIn the Africa diaspora, protestors gathered in Washington, D.C., in support of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, just days after calls for a ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the Tigray war from top U.S. diplomats who made separate trips to Africa last week.
Demonstrators also denounced the approach and policy of President Joe Biden’s administration in relation to Ethiopia.
In Sudan, opposition leaders say they will not recognize any political agreement with the country’s military, despite Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s reinstatement.
Under an agreement signed with coup leader Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the formerly deposed Hamdok, who initially denied claims that he would lead a new government, will now lead a civilian government for a transitional period.
