8:30Now PlayingIn 1981, Raymond Towler was charged with the rape, assault and kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old male cousin in Cleveland, Ohio.
The victims and at least two witnesses identified him as the perpetrator and testified at his trial. Several witnesses corroborated his story, but the jury still convicted him, and he was sentenced to life in prison.
After serving almost 30 years, a new law made it possible to request DNA testing. With the help of the Ohio Innocence Project, that DNA test cleared Towler, which led to his release from prison in 2010.
Towler joins Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss his story and helping others.
