Almost two weeks ago, Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam were finally exonerated after a judge in New York threw out their convictions. Both spent more than 20 years in prison.
The reinvestigation into these cases was a joint effort with the Manhattan district attorney’s office, the Innocence Project and a New York-based law firm.
Vanessa Potkin, director of special litigation with the Innocence Project, and Deborah Francois, attorney with the David Shanies law firm, join Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss the vacated conviction.
