27:27Now PlayingMarshall Field Sr. built one of the most powerful retail empires in American history. His son Marshall Field Jr. was a drunk who died in a brothel. But his daughter Ethel? She was worse. In this video we dive into the scandalous life of Ethel Field, the trampy nepo baby heiress to the Marshall Field fortune who burned through two husbands, abandoned her children, and passed a venereal disease to her own son that slowly destroyed his life and ultimately led to his death.
Ethel Field married Arthur Magie Tree in 1891 and immediately began an affair with British naval officer David Beatty. After abandoning her first son Ronnie, she married Beatty in 1901 and proceeded to spend her father's millions on fox hunting, gambling trips to Monte Carlo, and a string of affairs. Her son Peter Randolph Louis Beatty was born in 1910 with complications traced back to a venereal disease carried by his mother. He would spend his entire life paying for her choices.
It's another Ti's Hot Mess History scandal! Enjoy!
