On April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. She was the largest ship in the world and was considered unsinkable. More than 1,500 people died that night, making it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. Third class passengers had some of the lowest survival rates of anyone on board.

Marie Lefebvre was one of them.

In 1912, Marie packed up her four children and boarded the Titanic in third class to finally reunite with her husband in America. He had been in Iowa for over a year, working in the coal mines and saving money to bring his family over.
