In 2026, Tiger Woods sat in the back of a police car after his fourth vehicle incident in 17 years and said "this is fun." In 1900, a Vanderbilt heir was hauled into court after so many speeding arrests that 50 residents of Newport petitioned the police to stop him. His response was "arrest me every day if you want to. It is nothing to pay fines for such sport." 126 years apart. Same energy. Same privilege. Same system that has never held the rich accountable the way it holds everyone else.

Tiger Woods has crashed four times since 2009. He has been cited for careless driving, pleaded down a DUI to reckless driving, walked away from a rollover at nearly double the speed limit without his blood ever being tested, and most recently flipped his SUV with hydrocodone in his pocket and was given permission by a judge to leave the country for treatment. Willie K. Vanderbilt II flipped cars, hit a delivery wagon, injured a little girl, got arrested so many times that a town created speed limits because of him, and then built his own private 45 mile highway so he would never have to follow traffic laws again. Neither man ever faced a serious consequence.

Tonight I am walking through both timelines side by side so you can see for yourself how wealth has been buying second chances for over a century. After the history lesson we are playing Pred Bingo. Get your bingo card when the link drops in the live chat.
