as posted by the channelAround 10:29 AM on May 17, 2024, Officer Dylan Archilla with the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at ShopRite on 900 Madison Street. He entered the store around 10:30 AM and walked upstairs to the loss prevention office. In the loss prevention office, he met with the loss prevention staff as well as the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as 61-year-old Shadi Salaam.
The loss prevention official informed the officers that the man attempted to leave the store without paying for about $607 worth of items. Officer Jessica Lee arrived shortly afterwards and placed Shadi under arrest for shoplifting. He was handcuffed, searched, and escorted to the patrol car.
Shadi was transported to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. At police HQ, he was searched in more detail. He was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11 and also charged with Hindering Apprehension under 2C:29-3.

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
