Man Asks Officer for her Number After Getting Arrested at Donovan’s

Prior Arrest in Point Pleasant Beach

On May 4, 2024 around 10:56 PM, Patrolwoman Alexa Susino with the Sea Bright Police Department was on patrol near Donovan’s Reef and she observed the security staff attempt to remove a male subject from the establishment. She initiated contact so that she could ensure that the situation did not escalate. Patrolwoman Susino made contact with the intoxicated male as well as his friend. She was told by the security staff that they were unable to admit him inside because he refused to show them his identification.

The male, later identified as Michael DeFelice, was asked by Patrolwoman Susino to provide her with his ID. Around this time, he became argumentative and refused to provide his identification as requested. Sergeant Christopher Fisler arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards, but Michael continued to be uncooperative. Michael pulled his wallet out of his pocket and Sergeant Fisler went to grab his ID out of his wallet. Around this time, his wallet fell to the ground because Michael did not cooperate. Based on his belligerent nature, Sergeant Fisler placed Michael under arrest for disorderly conduct.

After he was placed under arrest, he was transported by Sergeant Fisler back to the Sea Bright Police Department. At police headquarters, the officers worked on processing him and completing the paperwork related to this arrest. During this time, Michael continued to yell profanities towards the officers. Before he was released, he even asked Patrolwoman Susino for her phone number. After they were finished with their paperwork, Michael was released to his mother pending his court appearance. He was issued a summons for a disorderly persons offense (91-2M).

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
