Drunk Woman Passes Out and Gets Arrested for SECOND DWI

Around 12:32 AM on July 13, 2025, Patrolman Michael Gallagher with the Union Beach Police Department was dispatched to Ader’s Tavern at 1321 Florence Avenue on a report of an unresponsive female behind the wheel of a car in the parking lot. He arrived on scene around and made contact with a female sitting in the driver seat of a white 2021 Buick. She was later identified as Lee Gale.

He awakened Lee, and she seemed shocked to find that the police had been called. Witnesses told the officers that she had been asleep behind the wheel for about an hour. Additional officers arrived on scene shortly afterwards. Since she was in physical control of the vehicle, Lee was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

Her poor performance on the field sobriety exercises confirmed the officers’ suspicion of impairment, and she was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. The officers transported Lee to the Union Beach Police Department for further processing.

At the station, she was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, but she refused to submit breath samples. After the officers finished processing her, Lee was eventually released pending her court appearance.

Patrolman Gallagher issued Lee the following citations:

-Operating under the influence (39:4-50)

-Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:4-50.4A)

-Reckless driving (39:4-96)

-Careless driving (39:4-97)

-Failure to possess driver insurance card (39:3-29C)

Court records indicate that on November 5, 2025, Lee was found not guilty of DWI (39:4-50) in the Union Beach Municipal Court. However, she was found guilty of refusal to submit to a chemical test. As a result of her conviction, Lee had to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center, use an ignition interlock device for 7 months, and pay a total of $465 in fines.

Lee has previously been arrested for her first DWI in Neptune Township, NJ on April 30, 2025. Following this DWI, Lee was arrested again for her third DWI in Hazlet Township, NJ on October 9, 2025.
