1:01Now PlayingThe U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) Women Building Peace Award celebrates extraordinary women from conflict-affected and fragile regions working to build peace. On October 20, USIP honored the heroic finalists for the 2021 award and announced the award recipient.
Women Building Peace Award finalist Tatiana Mukanire is a founding member and national coordinator for the National Movement of Survivors of Sexual Violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She raises awareness about sexual violence, demands justice and reparations for survivors, and advocates for their inclusion in peace processes.
In addition to honoring the awardee and all the finalists, this year USIP paid special tribute to all Afghan women. Watch the full event here
