1:02Now PlayingThe U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) Women Building Peace Award celebrates extraordinary women from conflict-affected and fragile regions working to build peace. On October 20, USIP honored the heroic finalists for the 2021 award and announced the award recipient.
Waldistrudis Hurtado, a Women Building Peace Award finalist, is co-founder and director of Colectivo de Mujeres Trenzadas Somos Mas (“Braided We Are More”) in Colombia. She is committed to advancing the rights of women and honoring their intersectional and intercultural diversity.
In addition to honoring the awardee and all the finalists, this year USIP paid special tribute to all Afghan women. Watch the full event here
