In this episode, Sal Mercogliano - maritime historian at Campbell University and former merchant mariner - discusses the "tidal wave" of new container ship production and what this will mean for the ocean carriers. Many believe it will lead to a continued falling of freight rates, but with new IMO fuel and emissions standards preparing to hit under IMO 2023, many companies believe they will need more capacity to handle ship slowdowns and scrapping of older tonnage.
