Ford went public earlier this month with her allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party in high school.
Leahy asked what Ford's strongest memory was, and she said the "uproarious laughter between the two" who were having fun at her expense during the alleged assault at the gathering. Ford was referring to Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, his high school friend.
Leahy also said the Senate failed Anita Hill, who brought sexual harassment allegations against then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas in 1991. "I believed her," Leahy added.
