Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the July phone call between President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s president that has become the center of the impeachment inquiry was “unremarkable.” Nunes spoke ahead of testimony from Kurt Volker, the former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, and Tim Morrison, a former White House official who served on the National Security Council, on Nov. 19, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into Trump. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. “This process is not serious. It is not sober, and it is certainly not prayerful,” Nunes said, later adding, "the chair of this committee claims democracy is under threat. If that is true, it is not the president who poses the danger.”
