Kurt Volker, the former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, testified before House lawmakers that he “did not know of any linkage between the hold on security assistance and Ukraine pursuing investigations.” Volker testified on Nov. 19 during a public hearing as part of the impeachment probe into President Donald Trump. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Lawmakers are seeking answers to whether Trump made U.S. aid to Ukraine contingent on the investigations.
