7:36Now PlayingTuesday night was the first round of this week's two-night Democratic presidential candidate debates, which featured Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — the party's most progressive candidates — on the same stage. Journalist Mehdi Hasan and Detroit community leader Abdul El-Sayed respond to the contenders' answers on foreign policy. "I wish we could have had a whole debate on foreign policy. I find the format of these debates so frustrating," says Hasan. "I wish we could go into more depth." Meanwhile, El-Sayed points out that resources poured into needless and expensive wars abroad could be put to better use domestically — like funding for healthcare reform. "That is all money that is being used to kill children abroad," he says. "We could use that same money to save children's lives at home. We are not doing that. That is the point we have to be making."
