12:46Now PlayingReports suggest that comedian Amy Schumer was displeased with the $11 million offer from Netflix for her “The Leather Special” comedy show due to comedians Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock getting $20 million for each one of their netflix shows. As the reports say, Schumer and her team returned to Netflix after learning the information and demanded more money, which they received. The exact amount of money she got is unclear. After these series of events were revealed to the mainstream media, Schumer retaliated with an Instagram post defending herself against allegations of envy of other comedians but she also confirmed the original story about renegotiating the Netflix deal.
Amy Schumer should thank her lucky stars that she was able to receive the $11 million. To try and lobby for more seems greedy especially since her Netflix special tanked in ratings. It was one of the most disliked show on Netflix, ever, receiving a ton of 1-star ratings. The ratings were so bad that Netflix had to change the actual rating system afterwards. Rather than using 1 to 5 stars, users were given the option of either a thumbs up or thumbs down. That data is then combined with an algorithm to push certain types of content to a user by showing them a “match” rating. Netflix subscribers widely slammed the new feature, but it has not been changed as of yet.
Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are far and away out of Amy Schumer’s league. Comparing them to her is like comparing Michael Jordan to a 2nd-string high school basketball player who might not even go to college let alone play professionally. And the gender pay gap idea is busted here because according to raw data, black men make 89% of the money that white women do. At the end of the day, this seems like all business based on the lie of gender pay gap. Skill has nothing to do with it because, again, Schumer is an OK comedian nowhere near the caliber of Chappelle and Rock.
