19:17Now PlayingAlisyn Camerota of CNN hosted a panel of Trump supporters for the purpose of picking their brain about his reaction to the Charlottesville incident and also other things relating to the media. CNN gets credit here for having a diverse panel and not just a bunch of people that someone could easily slander as being part of a hate group. They were just average everyday normal Americans. But beyond that, the host in this situation was very much anti-Trump and came off as condescending towards the panel. She was also very maternalistic, often exhibiting visible signs of disgust when the panel would answer her questions.
Most of the talk centered around Trump’s reaction to Charlottesville that has been widely criticized due to him saying the truth about there being violence on both sides. Camerota couldn’t quite understand that just because one group of people who were at the rally were labeled as “white supremacists” that does not mean they represent all of the proponents of the Robert E. Lee statue staying on the campus of UVA, which was (supposed to be) the central focus at Charlottesville. In her mind everything was white supremacists vs anti-white supremacists. But the truth is that there were normal people on both sides with different opinions, and there were violent and dangerous people on both sides with different opinions.
The greatest takeaway from the CNN panel was that the average citizen is beginning to lose faith in the mainstream media. Camerota was visibly offended by the notion of people looking at CNN with less credibility than videos on Facebook from regular people on the street. What the panel was trying to tell her, and as a result the audience watching at home, is that mainstream media has been playing favorites and skewing stories in a liberal fashion for so long, that nobody really trusts them. Which is warranted, especially since Project Veritas videos have surfaced featuring people from CNN admitting that their network is more focused on ratings than journalistic ethics.
