Now with it’s second season airing, A Black Lady Sketch Show is continuing to bring fresh new comedy to the entertainment world, and today we’re chatting with one of its starring comedians.

What’s up all, it’s your sis Shay Sayss. Welcome back to Bold In The Know. Be sure to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell for pop culture, current events, news headlines, and all things Bold.

Joining Shay Sayss today is Skye Townsend, one of the actors from A Black Lady Sketch Show on HBO and HBO Max.

For those living under a rock, A Black Lady Sketch Show is a sketch comedy series consisting of various sketches all featuring a core cast of black women. The series also features celebrity guests like Issa Rae, Gabrielle Union, Amber Riley, and more.

What is your favorite part of this season?

Skye Townsend says that she loves how she gets to play 25 different people, which is exciting! And once you get into hair, makeup, and wardrobe it’s exciting to see all of the parts connect.

How do you keep track of all characters?

Skye says that the characters are all very drastic, so you have to remember which character stands like what and which character’s posture is not like the others. She likes to keep a running checklist.

What are some life lessons that you’ve learned as a black woman and in a show filled with black women in comedy?

Skye says she learned “if you’re early, you’re on time, if you’re on time, you’re late, and if you’re late, you’re disrespectful.” Another is from her boss, Robin Thede who says “being tired is only temporary.” Right in the moment you’re creating and it might be 1AM but you don’t want to look back on your work, and feel like you could’ve done something more.
