Well DAO is short for decentralized autonomous organizations. They are blockchain-based fully democratized cooperatives. A lot of people are excited about DAOs because they are a way to crowdfund really interesting ideas and projects and they enable every member to have an equal say.

Let's take a look at five of the most interesting DAOs that we've seen so far.

Uniswap is probably the biggest of them all. It is like a decentralized Coinbase, based on the Ethereum blockchain. People trade thousands of cryptocurrencies and tokens on Uniswap and holders of Uniswap’s native token get to vote on how its run next.

We got Decentraland which is an online virtual world where users can buy virtual land and owners of its native token get decision making powers over the platform.

BitDAO is a promising project. It has raised billions and attracted problem investors like Peter Thiel. BitDAO allows participants to buy a stake in DeFi and Web 3 startups.

Sailgp DAO is another intriguing project that will give its members effective ownership over a sports team. Sailgp is a sailing league founded by Larry Ellison and people who buy into the DAO are able to control a sail team, determined athlete selection, and team strategy.

Finally, we would be remiss if we didn't mention ConstitutionDAO, which was a project that raised $40 million to bid on a rare edition of the US Constitution. Although the DAO was unsuccessful, it may provide a blueprint for future DAO projects looking to crowdfund social causes
