1:10Now PlayingCongress is fighting over the national debt again, and both parties are wrong on this issue. Democrats want to continue running up the national debt, while Republicans want to cut spending radically, and some extreme members are even considering defaulting. This is a high-stakes fight.
Because if the debt ceiling isn't raised, the government won't be able to pay its bills, it would cause a government shutdown and an economic crash that would devastate our way of life. For Democrats, hear this: we need to cut spending. Government spending is unsustainable and causes inflation. Now for Republicans: we cannot play games with our nation's finances; defaulting and causing a financial crisis is much more serious than your silly talking points.
Most Americans, me included, don't want a financial crisis. So, Congress needs to pass a deal, which involves compromise. Do your job, Congress: negotiate and raise the debt ceiling while cutting government spending. That means everything should be on the table– defense, Medicare, and Social Security included– to make America financially stable again.
