The Victorian era was quite an animated time, if you forgive the pun. It was a period of unrivalled progress in technology and scientific thought, of political and societal revolutions, and the expansion of free trade and industrialization across the globe. To many of those that were living through it, the 19th Century represented the absolute height of humanity. And yet, the period was clearly not the perfection which so many institutions had sought to portray it. There were deep-rooted and even existential problems which plagued Victorian society, lies and sin which ran through truth and virtue. Something just wasn't quite right, and that 'something' is precisely the topic of this video.
