2:56Now PlayingHouse Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) spoke to reporters Friday ahead of his panel's closed-door deposition with former President Bill Clinton as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
"I think the American people have a lot of questions, and our House Oversight Committee is committed to getting answers. We're committed to transparency," he said outside a performing arts center in Chappaqua, New York, where the deposition was taking place.
"We're going to continue to seek the truth, try to figure out how the government failed the victims, and try to hopefully hold more people accountable. That's what the purpose of this investigation is."
Rep. Comer said no one was accusing Mr. Clinton of a crime but noted that the former president appeared in numerous photos and correspondence in the files released by the Justice Department.
He also said Mr. Epstein visited the White House 17 times during Mr. Clinton's presidency and that Mr. Clinton flew on Mr. Epstein's plane "at least 27 times."
"Those are questions that we're going to ask," he said.
