as posted by the channelThe Artemis II astronauts spoke to reporters at NASA’s Johnson Space Center on Thursday in their first press conference since returning from their lunar flyby mission.
“We wanted to go out and try to do something that would try and bring the world together,” Commander Reid Wiseman said. “We launched as friends and we came back as best friends.”
Artemis II marked NASA’s first crewed mission beyond low Earth orbit since the Apollo Program, laying the foundation for future lunar landings.
The crew also offered advice for those hoping to follow in their footsteps.
Pilot Victor Glover: “I would encourage them to start now before they are even on that journey before they get really comfortable asking questions and then listening.”
Mission Specialist Christina Koch: “Do what scares you, the path of least resistance isn’t usually the path that will give the most back to the world.”
Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen: “Share your goals, be brave enough to share them, and then you’ll be surprised how people surround you and lift you up to accomplish them.”
