as posted by the channelGen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Thursday the U.S. is expanding its naval blockade of Iran beyond the Strait of Hormuz, warning American forces will target any ship worldwide attempting to resupply the country.
“This blockade applies to all ships, regardless of nationality, heading into or from Iranian ports,” he said at a Pentagon briefing. “The U.S. action is a blockade of Iran’s ports and coastline, not a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Enforcement will occur inside Iran’s territorial seas and in international waters.”
The chairman said the operation, involving more than 10,000 service members, a dozen ships and dozens of aircraft, “will actively pursue any Iranian flagged vessel or any vessel attempting to provide material support to Iran.”
