Sununu says President Trump’s combative personality may be a challenge for Republicans in the short term, but argues that Trump will not define the party forever. He says Democrats face a deeper, generational challenge in defining what their party stands for.
"Moderate Democrats need to stand up and need to push back a little bit," he said.
Ms. Heitkamp says voters aren't focused on political labels, arguing that if you asked people on the street, they'd be more likely to say: "I just want them to get their damn job done, and I want my life to be easier.
