4:29Now PlayingJeremy Scahill told Drop Site Live that every Palestinian is watching the fate of dozens of resistance fighters trapped in tunnels east of the Yellow Line inside Israeli-controlled zones — as Israel continues attacking and killing them despite a ceasefire.
He said Israel is trying to manufacture a “victory moment” by forcing fighters to surrender so they can be humiliated and taken as POWs, and has been carrying out extrajudicial killings underground to compel Hamas to accept. Israel itself says it has killed more than 40 men.
Scahill noted that this violates the ceasefire framework directly agreed with Hamas and the wider resistance: “You can’t sign a ceasefire with an armed movement and then say you still have the right to murder its fighters.” He added that the son of senior Hamas negotiator Ghazi Hamad was among those recently killed.
Axios reported today that when Trump pressed Netanyahu on why Israel refuses to let the trapped fighters surrender, Netanyahu replied that they are “armed and dangerous.”
