This is why up-and-comers like Florida's governor Ron DeSantis are so dangerous. DeSantis has enacted a slew of bills just this year that prove how much of an extremist he is, and as his star continues to rise in the Republican Party, he may  prove to be an even bigger threat than Trump. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Donald Trump is undeniably, uh, the leader of today's Republican party, right? His influence over the party is something we witness on a near daily basis at this point. But his influence, his power really only seems to extend over the people who hold positions of power in the Republican party out there. In average, everyday America, Donald Trump's influence is waning. He is effectively weaker than ever with the American public. And that's why people like Florida's Trump loving governor, Ron DeSantis have become such a threat. You know, a year or so ago where they voted to impose that poll tax on the former felons who got the right to vote back. The, the public voted on giving these people their right to vote back and they had passed by 62%. We wanted these people to be able to vote the Republicans in Congress that control the state of Florida, including Ron DeSantis. As our governor said, Nope, let's make sure they have to pay back any and all court fees, court, fines, restitution, whatever it is before they can vote. It is effectively a poll tax. And of course this year they passed their massive voter suppression bill, which is very similar to the one in Georgia. No water, no food, no drinks for people in line, cutting down, voting by mail, which they've now admitted. Oops, it may hurt us more than it hurts the Democrats. So that's a horrible thing. His social media fines, you know, past the piece of legislation, finding social media companies over a hundred thousand dollars a day, if they block a politician from their platform, now that's not going to hold up in court. Have his anti protest bills that he has passed here in the state of Florida, basically giving a motorist the right. If the protestors blocking the street, you can run them over. Don't worry about it. They shouldn't be in the street. Anyway, of course, that didn't apply this past week when you had people blocking roadways, literally shutting off traffic, uh, protesting and solidarity with Cuba.
