Texas Republicans are trying to rewrite the history of the United States, and they are doing it in a way that erases vital moral legacies. For example, a piece of legislation passed by the Republican-controlled Texas Senate forbids teachers from teaching their students that the KKK is "morally wrong", while also erasing pieces of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy. These are all things that could disappear at least to some extent under this new law that Texas Republicans are pushing. And obviously any one of those things I just mentioned is hugely detrimental to a child's education. If it's cut out, these are important things that American children need to know about. We need to know native American history, and we need to understand what the federal government did them.
