Prosecutors at the Department of Justice sent Donald Trump an official letter this week, letting him know that he is the TARGET of their criminal investigations. This letter is a strong indication that not only is he going to be indicted, but he's going to be indicted VERY soon. The letter is also the first official confirmation that the DOJ is not going to be backing down in their investigation and they are not handling Trump with kid gloves. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

To say this has been a bad week for Donald Trump, I think would probably be the understatement of the century. This has been a horrific week for Donald Trump that as the days tick on actually just keeps getting worse. But the big thing that happened this week, among a half dozen different revelations, is the fact that the DOJ sent Donald Trump a letter letting him know officially for the first time, you in fact, are the target of the criminal investigation. Now, you may think that, okay, that's not that big of a deal. It's just the DOJ saying, we're coming after you. We already know they're coming after him, right? He already knows he's the subject of the criminal investigation. So why does this letter matter? Because the letter is more than just an fyi. We're looking at you type letter. The letter is basically the first step that happens prior to indictments coming down.

It's also a very clear indication to Donald Trump and his legal team that whatever it is they begged the DOJ to do when they met with them on Monday didn't work. And it's a clear message that we are not going to go easy on you. We're not going to handle you with kid gloves. We are in fact going to treat you just as we would treat any other person that we are criminally investigating. So is the letter a big deal? No. It is the biggest deal that Donald Trump has faced so far in the ongoing Jack Smith investigation. Now, here's the fun part, right? We also learned this week that Jack Smith had a second grand jury impaneled down in Miami. That is something that most of us did not know. In fact, unless you were a part of either grand jury, you probably didn't know that it was taking place.

And the reason for that is because Jack Smith has actually made sure to do everything by the book, by keeping a grand jury in Florida, in case some of the charges he wants to hit Donald Trump with aren't federal charges, but are instead state charges. Now, that is a pretty bold indication that no matter where this thing lands, there will be criminal indictments against Donald Trump. Now, for the state part, of course, we're talking about a jurisdiction where Donald Trump's favorite judge, the one he used to get the special master appointed. Uh, there's a good chance she might be the one overseeing that. Uh, of course there are the obvious ethical problems that she refused to recuse herself. And, you know, she should be facing, uh, impeachment calls, but unfortunately, she's not. However, there's also, even if she does it by the book and says, yes, we're gonna convict you, there's still the near certainty that Ron DeSantis as governor of

Florida would end up pardoning Donald Trump for any criminal, uh, convictions. He may get even criminal charges, by the way. He could go ahead and pardon him for it, and then boom, we don't get a trial. And I gotta tell you, that's probably what Ron DeSantis wants more than anything, because that would be Ron DeSantis swooping in to save Donald Trump's behind showing MAGA world. Look, I got your back. I saved your guy. He's a criminal, but I saved him. So it makes Trump look bad, makes DeSantis look like the hero. So I'm willing to bet that DeSantis is hoping that Jack Smith brings some state charges. So we'll see how this thing plays out. Of course, we've got reports every day, like indictments could come as soon as tomorrow, and then the next day, well, then they may come tomorrow. We don't know. As you're watching this, the indictments may come down as I'm sitting here talking. We may be getting indictments, but I think the moves from the DOJ just this week alone prove that we will be getting indictments. We don't know when, hopefully soon. But at this point, it is pretty much a certainty that Trump is gonna be indicted by the doj.
