9:34Now PlayingOften times we find ourselves torn between what we know we should do, and what we want to do. This is especially true in what we call "grey areas." We often feel that if the Bible doesn't specifically say we can't or shouldn't do something, then we're good to go. However, often times in these grey areas there's this feeling that we probably shouldn't do this. The fact is, when it comes to temptation for Christians and knowing what to do, it's actually quite simple. It's not easy, but it's simple. The problem is, we often think in terms of how close we can get to the line without sinning. We think we know what's best, so we try to go as far as we can with what we want to do without sinning and upsetting God. The thing is, that betrays a completely wrong way of viewing sin. Sin is not just breaking God's commands and doing what he says not to do, though it is certainly that. A wholistic, biblical view of sin is actually much bigger. Sin, in the biblical sense, is "missing the mark." In this case, everything that falls short of God's design for our lives is sin. Rather than tip-toeing through temptation, we ought to be running towards righteousness. Rather than asking if something is a sin, we should ask if it glorifies God. If it doesn't, don't do it. It's simple. It's not easy, but it's simple.
