The Slovak People's Party, commonly known as the Hlinka's Slovak People's Party (HSĽS), was a far-right political organization in Slovakia during the early 20th century. Founded in 1913 by Andrej Hlinka, it gained prominence in the years leading up to World War II. The party's ideology was characterized by authoritarianism, nationalism, and strong Catholic values. It was labeled as clerical fascism.
Under the leadership of Jozef Tiso, who became the president of the Slovak State, a Nazi puppet state, in 1939. Tiso's regime cooperated closely with Nazi Germany, and the party's policies aligned with the broader fascist and Nazi ideology.
After World War II, the party was banned, and its leaders were prosecuted for their collaboration with the Nazis. Tiso was executed in 1947.
