13:48Now PlayingWith his signature, Governor Mark Dayton made it official: the state of Minnesota will establish an online marketplace for residents to review and choose health insurance options. Governor Dayton and legislative sponsors gathered for a bill signing ceremony Wednesday, March 20.
Minnesotans will soon be able to shop online for a health care insurance plan, which will be provided by insurance providers, who will compete for an offering in the market. The exchange will be managed by an independent board and will be financed by a surcharge on health care premiums.
During the bill signing ceremony, Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner James Scholwalter revealed the name for the exchange.
