25:37Now PlayingGovernor Walz, House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka reached an agreement to advance about $13 million dollars in funding for ongoing work with the state's licensing and registration system, referred to as MNLARS, and the state contractor assisting with new driver's licenses. The agreement was announced to the media Monday, March 4, at a Senate Republican press conference highlighting bills expected to be acted on by the full legislature and signed into law quickly.
In addition to funding MNLARS fixes, the agreement calls for changes to the 2018 bonding bill, specifically supporting environmental projects previously funded by appropriation bonds through general obligation bonds. According to bonding chair David Senjem, R-Rochester, the bill is in response to a lawsuit challenging the use of the appropriation bonds. The bill also funds highway projects approved in the 2018 session and the cleanup of a waste site in Andover.
