1:22:54Now PlayingNeel Kashkari, President of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank, spoke before the Senate Finance Committee Tuesday, March 5, to offer his perspective on the state and the U.S. economy.
During his presentation, Kashkari said that he does not believe the country is at maximum employment. "I hear anecdotes every day from businesses saying, 'oh my gosh, it's a worker shortage, what are we going to do?' And then I always ask them the next question, 'are you raising wages?'" He further stated that he has been amazed at the number of people who have decided to return to work after being out of the workforce. He said the question is, "how many more are out there?"
Kashkari also stressed the importance of education and immigration in creating a future workforce and aiding the economy.
