Aug 15, 20252:49Now PlayingIn Minnesota, seclusion is a restrictive emergency procedure in which a student with a disability is confined alone in a room and prevented from leaving to protect the student or others from physical harm. Currently, schools cannot use seclusion rooms to discipline students, but the rooms can still be used in emergency situations. Now, a working group made up of lawmakers, advocates, and other experts is meeting for the very first time to evaluate the effectiveness of seclusion in those situations, its impact on students and staff, and available alternatives.
